Akshay Kumar's "Rustom" has been enjoying a steady run at the Indian box office in its third week, but it witnessed a drop in the collection on its 18th day. Despite this setback, "Rustom" is set to beat the lifetime domestic box office collection record of Akshay's "Airlift."

As per early estimates, "Rustom" has collected approximately Rs.1.08 crore at the domestic box office on its third Monday or the 18th day of its release. While it made a little over Rs.1 crore on Friday, it witnessed a growth on the weekend. The day-wise breakup of the third week of "Rustom" is: Rs.1.29 crore (Friday), Rs.1.89 crore (Saturday), Rs.2.09 crore (Sunday) and Rs. 1.08 crore approximately (Monday), thereby taking its domestic box office collection to approximately Rs.123.37 crore net.

The impressive numbers also indicate that the audience has been opting for the Akshay and Ileana D'Cruz starrer instead of "Happy Bhag Jayegi" and "A Flying Jatt" that released after "Rustom."

With such craze for the Tinu Suresh Desai directorial, it is expected to run in theatres for the next two weeks at least, and surpass the lifetime domestic box office collection record of "Airlift," which raked in Rs.128.10 crore net in nine weeks.

However, it won't be an easy task since "Rustom" has to face a tough competition at the box office in week 4 when Sonakshi Sinha's "Akira" will hit theatres (Sept.2.) The trailer and posters of "Akira" have been creating a huge buzz and the film is expected to take the box office by storm.

While "Rustom" is gearing up to break "Airlift" lifetime domestic box office collection record, it has failed to become Akshay's most profitable film of 2016. While "Airlift" had made a profit of 176 percent in the first two weeks, "Rustom" made 170 percent profit at the end of its second week.
