Ritika Singh has signed her second movie after her debut movie "Irudhi Suttru," for which she won a National Award. She will be playing the female lead in Raghava Lawrence-starrer "Shivalinga," which is the remake of hit Kannada movie of the same name.

P Vasu, the director of the film, has told the Times of India that he was looking for a new face but ended up signing Ritika Singh as she is relatively new with only one film to her credit. The filmmaker was impressed with her performance in "Irudhi Suttru" and felt that she would justify the role.

He also points out that Lawrence and Ritika's combination is new and this will be an interesting factor in the film. The only area in which the actress might have to put her efforts is on her dancing skills.

"I told her Lawrence is a very good dancer and it is going to be a challenge for her to dance alongside him. So, I wanted her to concentrate on dancing to match up to him. She has promised me she would," the daily quotes P Vasu as saying.

The original version of "Shivalinga" starred Vedhika in the lead role. The movie tells the story of a CID officer, played by Shivaraj Kumar, who tries to unravel a murder mystery. The hero's work and personal life get embroiled in the case, leading to interesting developments in the story.

Vedhika had a powerful role similar to the one Jyothika had in "Chandramukhi." It was earlier speculated that Anushka Shetty was signed. However, those reports have now turned out to be false.

The Tamil version of "Shivalinga" will take off on July 14.
