Rise of the Tomb Raider's PC version is likely to be released in January 2016. This information was revealed after the Steam Store page made the release date public.

The website only mentions that the game will be released in "January 2016", without giving out any specific date about the release.

Adding to this, there has been no confirmation either from developer Crystal Dynamics or publisher Square Enix. But the release date is in line with the previously unveiled date for the release of PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was "early 2016".

GameSpot reported about a leaked listing in early December in Amazon France that said the game would be out on 29 January, 2016.

Rise of Tomb Raider was released as an "Xbox exclusive" and though it was thought to be only for Xbox platforms, Phil Spencer -- head of Xbox -- later explained that the game will only be a timed exclusive for Xbox platforms.

Rise of Tomb Raiderwas released in November 2015 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. So we cannot expect to see the PlayStation version of the game until November 2016 at least. This means those on PS4 and PS3 have to wait for some more time.

The game has, since its release, received good acclaim from critics and fans but it might not have sold as well as expected. This is due to the strong competition from games like Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and others. In fact, the game was released on the same day as Fallout 4. The game was also praised as one of the best games in 2015.

Adam Greenberg, a Microsoft marketing executive, recently said that the game had "done well" financially, further adding, "it's really clear that [developer Crystal Dynamics] delivered a masterpiece," reported Gameranx.
