Cancer Sufferer Teenager Stephen Sutton, who rose to fame recently after raising more than £3.2m for the Teenage Cancer Trust, has died in hospital.

Announcing his death, his mother Jane said: "My heart is bursting with pride but breaking with pain for my courageous, selfless, inspirational son who passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 14th May.

"The ongoing support and outpouring of love for Stephen will help greatly at this difficult time, in the same way as it helped Stephen through his journey. We all know he will never be forgotten, his spirit will live on, in all that he achieved and shared with so many."

The news has saddened people from all walks who know Stephen Sutton and his inspirational work. British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his condolence in a tweet:

Sutton rose to international fame after he used social media to promote his fundraising. In addition to a JustGiving donations page, he had a website and a Facebook page, and a Twitter feed, YouTube channel and Tumbler and Instagram pages.

He propelled himself to new heights of popularity when he recently posted a touching message that he was nearing his death. "I've done well to blag things as well as I have up till now, but unfortunately I think this is just one hurdle too far," he had said.
