Films starring A-list stars often feature fit and young actors as baddies. But Vijay's next movie will feature veteran director Mahendran, who will be seen in his first-ever full-fledged role in the Atlee Kumar directorial.

As per the latest buzz, he will be doing the role of a baddie in the flick, which is being called "Vijay 59" at present. It is said to be a powerful character and Atlee Kumar specifically wanted the legendary filmmaker to play the character.

The buzz is that Atlee Kumar had interacted with Rajinikanth during the making of "Sivaji" and "Enthiran", when the young director was assisting Shankar. During one of those conversations, the superstar had told Atlee that Mahendran's body language and mannerisms were similar to the "Baasha" actor.

This inspired Atlee to pen the villain's character keeping Mahendran in mind. And when the offer came his way, the legendary director could not reject and was not keen to disappoint the young filmmaker.

It is said that Mahendran's role has similarities to Malayalam actor Thilagan's role in Vijayakanth's "Sathriyan". Other details about the role are not available.

The regular shooting of "Vijay 59" has commenced this week. The Tamil movie is bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Dhanu. It is a family entertainer that is also very emotional. Samantha and Amy Jackson are the two female leads in the flick. Prabhu and Raadhika Sarathkumar play important roles.
