UPDATE 13:41 IST: "No explosives found in abandoned bag in Pathankot railway station," Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, DIG (Border range) told ANI news agency.

UPDATE 13:31 IST: The suspicious bag was reported to have army uniforms inside, according to NDTV

Original Story:

A bomb alert has been reported at the Pathankot railway station on Tuesday, India's 67th Republic Day.

A suspicious bag left at the station prompted an alert, and a bomb squad was called in, according to the ANI news agency.

"We don't think it is something dangerous, but we are taking no chances," IG Lok Nath Angra told the agency.

The Pathankot railway station has been evacuated following the alert.

Indian authorities have warned of terror threats on Republic Day after busting terror cells linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) across the country in recent days.

Pathankot was the centre of a terror attack earlier this month as six terrorists stormed an air force base in the city and killed Indian security personnel.
