Amritsar, Jan 26 (ANI): A beating retreat ceremony was held at Wagah Border in Amritsar on Monday evening as the country marks 66th Republic Day. The BSF jawans and Pakistan Rangers shook hands during the ceremony. The forces from both sides performed the 'show of strength' ceremony expressing their power. After that the common practice of lowering the national flags of both countries was held. The Beating Retreat ceremony is a daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959. The ceremony starts with a blustering parade by the soldiers from both the sides, and ends up in the perfectly coordinated lowering of the two nations' flags.
