French carmaker Renault is leaving no some unturned in its attempt to get a neat pie in the Indian auto market. The company, which is having a successful run in India with the popularity of its small hatchback, the Kwid, is now gearing up for the launch of the AMT (automated manual transmission) avatar of the model.

The Kwid AMT is expected to break the cover in India on November 7. And now ahead of its launch in the country, the motor buffs at GaadiWaadi have managed to capture the soon-to-be-launched the Kwid AMT, giving an early glimpse of the model. Renault is expected to equip both the 800cc and 1000cc avatars of the Kwid with the AMT box. The automatic transmission is expected to offer only the top RXT trim. The unit will be called Easy-R just like the Duster AMT. 

The Kwid AMT will have a rotary gear shifter, which will let the user to choose between neutral, drive and reverse modes. The rotary knob will be positioned at centre bottom of the dashboard next to the control button for door lock. A report of TeamBHP says that the Kwid AMT is likely to get a price tag starting at Rs 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for the Kwid AMT are open in the country for a token amount of Rs 10,000.

The Kwid was originally launched in September 2015 with a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor tuned to churn out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm with a five-speed manual gearbox. Later, Renault introduced the 1.0 litre engine that can churn out 67hp of power and 91Nm of torque.
