Renault India, the Indian subsidiary of French car maker Renault, received a reboot after Kwid emerged as a blockbuster success. Encouraged by Kwid's success, Renault is gearing up for a product launch onslaught in the coming year.

Among the upcoming vehicles, the most-awaited product would be a new SUV that will be positioned between Kwid and Duster. This new SUV has been codenamed HBC and it will go up against Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza SUV, reports ET Auto. The SUV will be based on the reworked CMF-A platform that also underpins Kwid.

The success of Vitara Brezza in the compact SUV space has prompted many carmakers to work on new products. Renault's compact SUV is expected to enter market in 2019, while many other players will enter market before that.

Tata Motors' Nexon is due in 2017, Hyundai's HND-14 Carlino concept based compact SUV is expected in 2018. Honda and Jeep have also started working on compact SUV model with a price around Rs 10 lakh. With Renault's product is also confirmed, the compact SUV space will witness fierce competition by the end of this decade.

Based on the CMF-A platform, Renault will also develop a MPV crossover and a sedan. The former has been codenamed RBC, while the latter is internally called LBC. MPV Crossover's launch is expected in 2018, while the sedan may enter market in 2020. Renault will also give update to Duster in the coming years and Kaptur crossover is due sometime in 2017.
