Vodafone India, under a new initiative, is offering an additional 9GB free 4G data for customers availing its 1GB data plan that is priced at Rs 251. This offer can be availed by new 4G smartphone users choosing Vodafone as their preferred network service provider, instead of Reliance Jio.

The above offer is applicable to telecom circles in which Vodafone India has its own 4G spectrum, and does not indulge in spectrum sharing with other telcos. Vodafone India has also stated that both its prepaid as well as postpaid subscribers will be able to leverage its extra 4G data offer. This initiative will remain in force till Dec.31 of this year.

However, at this point in time it is worth noting that new Vodafone 4G customers in telecom circles viz Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi will get only 9GB free 4G data on recharge of the 1GB data plan, as opposed to an overall 10GB of 4G data (applicable to other telecom circles of Vodafone India). The validity of Vodafone's 1GB 4G data pack is 28 days for prepaid and 30 days for postapid customers respectively.

Also, new 4G customers in Vodafone telecom circles of Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Goa opting for the above offer will receive an additional 9GB 3G data; not 4G data; applicable accordingly. Another important aspect of Vodafone's latest 4G initiative is that new 4G customers would also be able to use Movies, Music and TV applications for free till Dec.31.

During the public unveiling of the above offer, Sandeep Kataria, Director Commercial at Vodafone India stated "We are giving a greater reason to customers to upgrade to 4G handsets. With this offer, we are encouraging new 4G handset users to enjoy the Vodafone SuperNet experience to the fullest."
