It's Rahul Dev Burman aka RD Burman's 73rd birthday today and music fans from across the world remember the legendary and iconic Indian maestro.
Some celebrated the late Puncham Da's birthday by playing his songs while others paid tribute to the music maestro by singing his famous compositions. However, legendary singer and Pancham Da's second wife, Asha Bhosale, reportedly broke down while shooting for special R.D. Burman episode for reality show "Indian Idol 6".
A small video paying tribute to Pancham Da was played during the special episode, bringing back special moments of Pancham and Asha during their recordings. The video showed Pancham Da thanking Asha for motivating him to bring the trend Jazz and Latino to Bollywood and inspiring him to compose better music.
On watching the video, Asha became emotional and couldn't hold back her tears.
The special RD Burman episode of Indian Idol 6 will be aired this Friday on Sony.
Popularly known as Pancham Da, Burman was born on June 27, 1939 and was the only son of well-known Bollywood and Bengali composer-singer Sachin Dev Burman and his lyricist wife Meera Dev Burman.
RD Burman and Asha got married in 1980 after Pancham Da got divorced from his first wife Rita Patel. The couple recorded many hit songs together.
