Last rites of Ranvir Sena head Brahmeshwar Singh, who was allegedly shot dead on early Friday, will be performed on Saturday evening at his home town in Arrah, Bihar.

According to the police, Singh was on a morning walk when six unidentified gunmen with sophisticated weapons shot several bullets into him, killing him on the spot at Katira Mohalla under Nawada police station.

Violence triggered in Arrah after he was shot dead, forcing administration officials to impose curfew, but it was lifted in the afternoon after following a high-level analysis of the area by officials.

Sena supporters arrived at the site where Singh was killed and shouted anti-government slogans and ran after the policemen who arrived at the spot to take Singh's body for autopsy.

They also set two tankers and an auto on fire and attacked the circuit house, the BDO's office and the local railway station, IBN Live reported. Brahmeshwar supporters also destroyed public properties and even broke windows of the Patna Rajdhani Express.

However, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured people of an investigation to find out the people behind the killing.

"We have appealed to all to maintain peace. There would be probe to find out the guilty. The perpetrators will be punished," Kumar said.

Abhay Anand, Director General of Police (DGP), was manhandled by the angry supporters when he visited Arrah.

"A police team has been formed which will remain in Arrah till the case was solved. We will do all to defuse tension and solve the case," he said.
