Of late, Ranveer Singh has been in the news courtesy rumours of his conflict with Sanjay Leela Bhansali over "Padmavati," which stars Deepika Padukone. Adding further twist to the ongoing tussle, rumour has it that the actor may have to make a choice between "Padmavati" and Zoya Akhtar's next "Gully Boy."

Apparently, "Padmavati' will take six months time to complete, but the "Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara" director is also keen to start shooting for "Gully Boy" soon, Box Office Capsule reported. Ranveer, who earlier teamed up with Zoya for "Dil Dhadakne Do," may play the role of an underground rapper from Mumbai.

The "Bajirao Mastani" actor and director's equation have changed ever since Shahid Kapoor was confirmed to play Deepika's onscreen husband in "Padmavati." With the film turning into a two-hero project, Ranveer demanded a script narration, which apparently didn't go down well with the director.

Bhansali then began approaching other stars to replace Ranveer as the second ruler of the Khilji dynasty, Alauddin Khilji. In fact, the makers also approached Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the part. Considering Ranveer's insecurity over Shahid's entry in "Padmavati" and rumours of Bhansali approaching other actors as the new male lead, it won't come as a surprise if the actor decides to opt for Zoya's film over "Padmavati."

"Ranveer's role in the film is a negative, but powerful one. SLB has given him some superb dialogues and scenes. But the comfort level between the actor and director changed when Shahid Kapoor came on board as the Rana of Mewar, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, who is also Padmavati's (Deepika Padukone) husband in the film," a source had told DNA.

However, the makers are yet to finalise the star cast of "Padmavati."
