The first schedule of the much-awaited Rima Kallingal–Manju Warrier movie, "Rani Padmnini", has been wrapped up at Ottapalam in Palakkad. The news was shared by Aashiw Abu, director of the movie.

"Done with Rani Padmini first schedule shoot. Thanks to the lovely people of Ottapalam," Aashiw Abu wrote on his Facebook page.

The script of this upcoming movie has been written by Shyam Pushkaran and Ravi Shankar. The cinematography of the movie is handled by Madhu Neelakandan, editing is being done by Saiju Sreedharan, and music by Bijibal.

"Rani Padmini" is a woman-centric film that revolves around the lives of two women who are on a long journey to Himachal Pradesh from Kochi through Delhi. Though the lead characters are travelling to the same place, their intention and purpose are different. The makers say that the film can be included in the genre of a thriller and travelogue.

"This story developed as we pondered on the issues faced by women during road trips; a woman travelling alone is not considered safe in our country. Both Rima and Manju play modern women in the film, which will be a travel movie. Rima plays Rani and Manju will play Padmini," Shyam Pushkaran, scriptwriter of the movie, told The Times of India

"Rani Padmini" will be shot extensively in Kochi, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi. The director had earlier said that the movie does not have anyone who can be called the hero as it is about two women, their lives, and experiences.

Earlier, it was reported that Rima will star in "Oppana", directed by Aashiq, but it looks like the team has dropped the idea for the time-being and will go ahead with "Rani Padmini". Aashiq has earlier worked with his wife Rima for the film, "22 Female Kottayam". The film enhanced Rima's reputation as an actress and she won several awards in the Best Actress category, including Asiavision Movie Awards, Filmfare Awards, Kerala State Film Awards, SIIMA Awards (Critics), and Vanitha Awards.

Meanwhile, Manju's last release "Ennum Eppozhum", where she starred alongside Mohanlal is currently running successfully in theatres. With the kind of excitement around the upcoming movie, audience is expecting "Rani Padmini" to be a landmark achievement in Malayalam cinema.
