Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. Devout Muslims will dedicate the holy month for fasting, prayers and charity.
Going by the lunar calendar, Ramadan is expected to start on 18 June this year.
Fasting is the most important part of the holy festival, during which observant Muslims fast for a month from sunrise to sunset, even refraining from swallowing their saliva.
