Rajinikanth turns 66 on Monday, December 12. For the second consecutive year, he has cancelled the birthday celebrations.

While in 2015 he made a plea to his fans not to waste money on celebrations as Chennai was badly hit by unprecedented floods, this year the state is yet to recover from the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on December 5. Hence, he decided to skip all the celebrations. 

Rajinikanth is an inspiring personality for millions of his fans. He is one of the biggest success stories in Indian films. Having born into a Maharashtrian family, he grew up in Karnataka and was a bus conductor before he decided to follow his ambition to become an actor and Tamil cinema gave him the much-needed break. And rest is history.

Cutting across the language barriers, people watch his movies and his fan following grows with every film. 

Coming to his birthday celebrations, fans are keeping it a low-key affair this time.
