There are contradicting reports on Rajinikanth's contribution for Chennai flood victims. Initially, he had announced Rs 10 lakh but now some reports say he has donated Rs 10 crore!

The Complete list of actors who donated for Chennai flood victims

The superstar was the first among the donors. Rajinikanth was abroad, shooting his forthcoming film when Chennai experienced heavy rain and subsequent flooding. The moment he came to know the city was affected, Rajini announced Rs 10 lakh for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

In the following days, many celebrities including Suriya announced donations, and their contributions were higher than Rajinikanth's. It did not take much time for people to compare the amount given by the biggest star of South India and others.

While a section of people on social media criticised Rajinikanth for a meagre donation, his fans defended him by saying the superstar would contribute more once he returned to Chennai.

Now, latest reports say Rajinikanth has met Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her Pose Garden residence and donated a cheque of Rs 10 crore. However, there is no confirmation from his spokesperson or government sources.

Rajinikanth ensured that the meetin was low profile.

Meanwhile, some reports claim he has donated Rs 5 crore in cheque and contributed flood-relief materials worth Rs 5 crore.

Rajinikanth's fans' association has been actively involved in flood relief. The association members are working round the clock as per Rajinkanth's advice. Meanwhile, the superstar has called off all plans for his birthday.

He has also requested his legion of fans to donate for the Chennai flood victims instead of spending on birthday celebrations. Plans to launch his forthcoming film "Endhiran 2" have also been postponed.
