Director Atlee of "Raja Rani" fame got engaged to television personality Priya on Sunday (7 September) evening. The engagement ceremony was held at a five star hotel in Chennai.

Atlee and Priya have known each other for eight years. They started off as friends and later fell in love with each other. With the blessings of their family members, they have have got engaged and will be tying the knot in November, 2014.

"Yes, I have found my real rani, Priya. We are friends, but of late, we fell in love and now, here we are, engaged. I've known her for the last eight years. We got engaged with the wishes and blessings of our close friends and family members. Our wedding will take place in November this year," Atlee told the Times of India.

The wedding is expected to be a grand affair with the presence of several Tamil film celebrities as well as TV personalities.

Atlee, who worked as assistant director to Shankar, debuted as a director with "Raja Rani." The film, starring Arya, Nayantara, Jai and Nazriya, received overwhelming response from the critics as well as from the audience alike. Atlee won accolades for the romantic entertainer that deals with marriage and relationships. The director won several awards including the Vijay Award for the best debut director.

Atlee has also been nominated for the SIIMA awards, which is set to take place on 12th and 13th of September.

The young director is yet to announce his second Tamil project. There was a buzz that he will be working with Ilayathalapathay Vijay for a new film. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard.

Priya became popular with the television series "Kana Kaanum Kaalangal" aired on Vijay TV. She has also participated in the dance reality show Jodi No.1. The actress is also known for her portrayal of Anushka Shetty's sister in 2010-release "Singam."
