U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's visit to Sisganj Gurudwara, Jama Masjid and Gauri Shankar temple was cancelled on Wednesday due to heavy rains in Delhi. The national capital, Gurugram and Hyderabad were severely affected by incessant rain that led to water-logging and traffic jams across the cities.

The Delhi traffic police warned people through its Twitter handle that there was water-logging from central and south to north Delhi. The Gurugram police also tweeted urging residents to be "patient and maintain lane discipline." Visibility in the industrial hub was poor, the police said.

"Traffic is moving but slow, water logging in certain parts; People advised to follow traffic rules. If it does not rain heavily, traffic is expected to be normal in next few hours," Puran Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, was quoted as saying by News18.

In Hyderabad too, water-logging and heavy rain was reported in many areas. Traffic movement was slow in the southern city as well.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Janardhan Reddy appealed to the citizens of Hyderabad not to travel in the city for another hour due to heavy rains on Wednesday.

Flights were also affected on Wednesday with Air India and Indigo tweeting to passengers to let them know that "delays will be expected."
