Mohanlal is the latest celebrity to support the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. The actor has welcomed the move on his blog, which has now come under severe criticism from a section of netizens.

In the blog written in Malayalam, Mohanlal explains why he is supporting the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. According to him, the actor sees it as a "surgical strike" with a good decision. The Mollywood superstar points out that he does not like personality-worshiping but welcomes noble ideas, and the note ban is one such move.

Mohanlal adds that he realises the difficulties in implementing the decision and understands the problem people are going through by standing in long queues. But he says that if people can stand in queues at liquor shops, cinema halls or religious places, they should support good-intentional moves by the government as well.

The actor says that he too has been affected by the demonetisation as the shooting of his film has been halted. But he is happy with the move as it benefits the nation.

However, this did not go well with a section of people, who have trolled him and abused him over his views on the note ban. It may be recalled that Mohanlal was targeted by people earlier over his blog on "intolerance" issue.

It is noted that big names from Indian film industry that includes Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have welcomed the move.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal's Puli Murugan has turned out to be his biggest commercial hit at the box office. As per trade reports, it has grossed over Rs 75 crore in India alone.
