Pedestrians along Hollywood Boulevards Walk of Fame stopped to pay tribute to Prince on 22 April, beside a make-shift memorial drawn on a blank star on the renowned sidewalk. The fact that Prince doesnt have a star on the famed walkway didnt stop a creative artist from changing that by drawing his likeness on the sidewalk.

Candles, flowers and a photo of Prince were added to the memorial and people stopped to honour his life and the contributions he made to the music industry for more than four decades.

I think thats pretty neat, honouring him, an icon, he deserves it. He did so much musically and he had a lot of fans and was loved around the world said Gary Moore a pedestrian on Hollywood Boulevard.

Others took part in a flash mob at the Walk of Fame, singing and dancing to the artists hits. Prince turned down the opportunity to be nominated for a star after being approached several times by the Walk of Fame committee.

The influential star, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was found unresponsive in an elevator at the Paisley Park Studios complex in suburban Minneapolis on Thursday. So far, the cause of death remains unknown. Arrangements for his memorial have not been announced.
