A landmark nightclub in Minneapolis, Minnesota, held an all-night dance party on 21 April in honour of the passing of well-loved pop star Prince. Instagram video shows fans taking part in a music celebration at the entrance of the nightclub First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.

Paramedics attended the music legends home at Paisley Park in Minneapolis following reports that a person had died. Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud said police responded to a medical call at 9.43am on 21 April. A coroner was also sent to the vast complex, where Prince recorded his music. He was found unresponsive in an elevator and pronounced dead at 10.07 am.

Princes publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed the sad news of his passing in a statement that read: It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.

Fans flocked to First Avenue to pay their respects. A post on the First Avenue Facebook page stated: Our hearts are broken. Prince was the Patron Saint of First Avenue. He grew up on this stage, and then commanded it, and he united our city. It is difficult to put into words the impact his death will have on the entire music community, and the world.
