The season 6 summer finale of "Pretty Little Liars" is one of the most anticipated episodes of the show, as it will finally reveal the face behind the mask.

The episode, titled "Game Over, Charles", will also explain the motive behind Charles targeting the Liars – Aria, Hanna, Spencer, Emily – and his sister Alison.

While the official synopsis of the summer finale does not reveal much about the episode other than that it will answer a lot of questions that have been plaguing the viewers since the first season, spoilers doing the rounds indicate that Alison will disappear with Charles towards the end of episode 9.

Alison is also expected to be the first person to whom Charles will reveal his true identity. And once she finds out who Charles really is, Alison will stay with him and protect him from the police, rumours indicate.

The mid-season finale, in the meantime, will feature the Liars and Mona trying to find Alison.

The official synopsis of the summer finale: "Who killed Toby's mother? Who hit Alison in the head with the rock the night she went missing? Who is Red Coat? Who killed Bethany? Who is the Black Widow? Why has 'A' been targeting the PLLs all this time? After years of torture, Alison, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer finally come face-to-face with their tormentor and learn the story of how and why Charles became 'A'."

The summer finale of "Pretty Little Liars" season 6 will be aired on 11 August on ABC Family. The penultimate episode entitled "Last Dance" is set to be aired on 4 August.

This Tuesday's episode will see the Liars being banned from attending their high school prom due to security reasons, and this will force their mothers to throw them a party in Spencer's barn.

"Veronica, Pam, Ashley and Ella use prom night to touch base on everything that has happened to their daughters," the synopsis reads.
