New faces in town will put the girls on guard, and the return of an old face is going to bring even more trouble for the four girls in "Pretty Little Liars."

The next episode, titled "Oh, What Hard Luck Stories They All Hand Me," will see the return of detective Holbrook, who has been working in the shadows for a while now. The Liars are convinced that Holbrook gathering evidence to incriminate them and free Alison, and more on what he was up to is expected to be revealed in the next episode, which will air on 3 February.

"Pretty Little Liars" executive producer Joseph Dougherty previously teased that the detective's return will be dramatic, telling The Hollywood Reporter: "[Holbrook] certainly appears to be a force operating in the shadows over the next couple episodes, and then he makes a substantial and dramatic [physical] return about halfway through the season."

Meanwhile, the girls are going to be wary of the presence of new people in their lives. Emily will try to figure out what Talia really wants, after she starts getting mixed signals from her co-worker. The previous episode saw Talia telling Emily that she is interested in getting to know her and the "cute" comment aimed at Ezra was originally meant for her.

Spencer, in the mean time, will let down her guard a bit as she spends more time with Jonny. Sadly, nothing much is immediately known about the state of her relationship with Toby, who, in the previous episode, appeared conflicted about his relationship.

Aria and Hanna will also be kept busy due to the arrival of Mona's friend. The official synopsis reads: "When Mona's friend Lesli shows up in town, Hanna is tasked to get her back story and find out if Lesli is really who she says she is. Are the girls wise to keep an eye on everyone, or can they allow a bit of comfort room without worrying it is an 'A' trap? Meanwhile, Aria becomes concerned about Mike's recent behaviour."
