Premium BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9983 Graphite Smartphone Launched in India; Price, Specifications

Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry has launched a limited edition luxury handset Porsche Design P'9983 Graphite in India.

The new P'9983 Graphite smartphone is a product of BlackBerry and carmaker Porsche's Design division. It was originally unveiled in April this year. 

BlackBerry's flagship QWERTY smartphone boasts of a specially crafted glass-like keys made from rigid synthetic material for durability and comes with hand-wrapped leather on the rear-side. The company has also incorporated graphite based stainless steel colour frame around the contours of the phone to give a premium feel to the smartphone.

Under the hood, it houses the 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor backed by 2GB RAM, sumptuous 64GB, an 8mp camera with company's proprietary enhanced super resolution digital Zoom (5x), a 2mp snapper on the front and a 2100 mAh battery, which can run the phone for close to 12 days.

The company has reportedly confirmed that the new phone will hit Indian stores shortly and will cost Rs 99,990.

Considering the price of the device, some might think the BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9983 Graphite won't find many takers, especially in a price-sensitive market like India. But India is slowly emerging to be a market for Tier-1 brands such as Apple. They reportedly generated $1 billion in revenue from India alone, clocking 42% increase in units sales in 2014-2015, proving that there are Indians who don't mind spending on a top-end phone. 

Statistics aside, the BlackBerry Porsche series phones will certainly find takers from loyal fans novelty collectors and tech-savvy elite businessmen who give paramount importance to data security.
