Telugu movie Premam, which was released in theatres on 7 October, is still going strong at the US box office in its second week and its collection is fast inching towards $1 million mark in the country.

Amidst huge hype and expectations, Premam debuted with fantastic response at the premiere shows in North America on 6 October. The strong word of mouth helped record breaking numbers in its opening weekend. Its business dropped on Monday and it continued to fall on the following weekdays. The movie collected $522,254 in its first weekend and $100,343 on the weekdays in the country.

Premam collected $622,597 gross at the US box office in the first week and earned a share of Rs 2.08 crore for its distributors in the country. Its day-wise breakup is $74,219 in Thursday premieres, $134,819 on Friday, $191,816 on Saturday, $116,882 on Sunday, $34,847 on Monday, $31,228 on Tuesday, $19,173 on Wednesday and $14,265 on Thursday.

Trade experts predicted that Premam would continue to keep the bells ringing at the ticket counters in country in the second week as there were big ticket Indian releases. However, the movie showed over 72 percent drop on its second Friday, when compared to its opening day collection. Its business is still on par with the first day collection of Naga Chaitanya's previous releases in the country.

Premam collected approximately $38,690 at the US box office on its second Friday, taking its US total gross to $661,287. Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted: "#Premam collects $38,690 on 2nd Friday and total gross is $661,287. Will it reach $1M in USA?"

The Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Haasan starrer has shown big leap on its second Saturday. As per early estimates, Premam has collected over $50,000 at the US box office on its ninth day, taking its US total beyond $700,000. The Chandoo Mondeti-directed film has emerged as the blockbuster solo film for Naga Chaitanya.
