Pratyusha Banerjee, who started her career in acting with popular television show "Balika Vadhu," died April 1. The news came as a shock to her well-wishers. The 24-year-old actress was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her residence in Mumbai Friday.

According to reports, Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh took her body to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital where she was declared dead. Though the reason behind her death is still not clear, it has been learnt that she was facing problems with boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh.

Pratyusha is not the only actress who lost her life at such a young age. Here are a few actresses who died young:

Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan, who made her debut in Ram Gopal Verma's 2007 film "Nishabd," was found dead in her apartment in Juhu June 3, 2013. Reports suggested that she committed suicide due to stress and depression. Following the shocking death of the 25-year-old actress, her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was taken into custody.

Aarthi Agarwal

Telugu actress Aarthi died last year June and the cause of her death was said to be a sudden cardio arrest. The 31-year-old actress was fighting obesity and pulmonary illness for a while. Aarthi underwent the risky procedure of liposuction to get in shape for the showbiz and lost her life due to complications with the same.

Taruni Sachdev

The "Rasna" girl, Taruni Sachdev, died at the age of 14 in a plane crash. The unfortunate mishap took place when the star was travelling back to India from Nepal. She was seen in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Paa."

Divya Bharti

The "Deewana" actress fell from the fifth floor of her Mumbai apartment April 5, 1993, just one year after her marriage to filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, shocking Bollywood. Though the police concluded it as an accidental death, some continued to believe it was a suicide, while others thought it was a murder. The actress was 19 when she died.

Nafisa Joseph

MTV video jockey Nafisa hanged herself in her apartment July 29, 2004, at the age of 25. Miss India Universe 1997 committed suicide after finding out that her fiancé businessman Gautam Khanduja was already married.

Kuljeet Randhawa

The "Kohinoor" series actress Kuljeet committed suicide at her Juhu apartment, as she could not cope up with stress. She took her life at the age of 30.

Smita Patil

Smita Patil was one of the most talented actresses who had done films like "Manthan," "Bhumika" and "Mirch Masala." At a young age of 31, the actress had a tragic death right after the birth of her son, Prateik Babbar.
