Popular Telugu comedian Potti Rambabu reportedly died of a brain haemorrhage at his residence in Hyderabad in the wee hours of Tuesday (29 December). He is survived by his wife, a son and daughter. His last rites will be performed on Tuesday evening.
Reports suggest that Potti Rambabu was recently diagnosed with neuronal cell damage and brain stroke. On Sunday, he was rushed to a private hospital after his condition deteriorated. The doctors, who treated him in the hospital, had declared that his condition was critical and though they tried their best, they couldn't save him.
"He collapsed after he suffered a stroke in the brain this morning at his residence. He passed away within minutes," IANS quoted a source from the Telugu film industry as saying.
Rambabu was a native of Burugupudi in Korukonda Mandal of East Godavari district. He started his acting career with a small role in Prabhas' 2002 Telugu film "Eeshwar", which gave him the much-needed break. This talented comedian went on to star in over 40 movies in his career spanning 14 years.
He won lots of accolades for his performance in movies like "Eeshwar", "Chantigadu" and "Donga Dongadi". Films like "Class Room", "Chantigadu", "Prematho" and "Nuvvu Vasthavani" are his other notable contributions in the industry.
Rambabu was to make a debut as the lead actor in "Puliraja IPS", directed by Raghava Thiruvaipati.
The Telugu industry lost 21 celebs in 2015 and Rambabu is the 22nd star to pass away this year. His sudden death has shocked many in the industry as well as film goers. Some took to their Twitter handles to mourn his demise and pay their tribute to the actor. Here are some Twitter comments:
