In the wake of the supersucess of Dhanush's "Raanjhanaa", the film's makers are planning to release the Tamil version "Ambikapathy" in 200 screens across Tamil Nadu.

"Ambikpathy" is all set to hit the theatres on a grand scale on 28 June, a week after "Raanjhanaa's release on 21 June. Confirming the news, trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Enthused by the super start of #Raanjhanaa, Eros to release its Tamil version #Ambikapathy in 200 screens across Tamil Nadu next Friday."

"Raanjhanna" is doing good business at the box office not just in India but also in international markets. The film reportedly fetched more than ₹11 crore in the first two days of its release in India. A similar jump was seen in international markets as well. The leading stars of the film have won appreciation for their performance from all quarters.

The Tamil version of the Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor starrer was initially planned to be simultaneously released along with the Hindi version. But the makers pushed the release date further to 28 June. With "Raanjhanaa" getting good response from film buffs and critics, it is expected that the Tamil version will also do well at the box office.

Directed by Anand Rai of "Tanu Weds Manu" fame, "Ambikapathy" is a love story set in the backdrop of Benares. The film has been produced by Krishika Lulla under Eros International banner. The dialogues for the Tamil part will be written by filmmaker John Mahendran and lyrics has been penned by Vairamuthu.

"#Raanjhanaa is 2 b dubbed into Tamil as Ambikapathy. Eros International has decided 2 dub it into Tamil with John Mahendran writing dialogue," senior journalist Sreedhar Pillai had earlier tweeted.

Rahman's music is one of biggest assets of the film. The Oscar winning music director is equally popular in the south and the film's songs are already topping the charts.

This week is really crucial for Dhanush as two of his films are getting released. The actor's Tamil film "Mariyaan" has been confirmed to be releasing on 27 June, a day ahead of "Ambikapathy's" release. It will be a clash between two of Dhanush's much-awaited films.

The trailer of "Mariyaan" has already generated a lot of buzz and the expectations are higher for the film. Similarly, positive word of mouth for "Raanjhanaa" might increase "Ambikapathy's" prospects at the box office.
