Actress Pooja Umashankar, who is also known as Shringeri Pooja, tied the knot with her beau Prasan David Vedhakan on Sunday, December 18. The marriage was a low-event, which was attended by the family members of the couple.
Prasan David Vedhakan is a Sri Lankan businessman, who has been in a relationship with Pooja Umashankar for some time now. The wedding was held secretly in Colombo and it was not attended by many. The couple has also left for their honeymoon to an undisclosed destination.
Pooja Umashankar hails from Shringeri in Karnataka and was born to HR Umashankar and Sandhya, who also is Sri Lankan Sinhalese. She completed most of her education in Karnataka and started her acting career in Tamil film Jay Jay.
She has worked in Sinhala, Malayalam and English movies. In her successful career, she has paired up with top names of Kollywood like Ajith, Arya, Madhavan, Prashanth and Jiiva. Naan Kadavul remains one of her popular flicks in Tamil.
It may be recalled that Pooja Umashankar was earlier in relationship with Sri Lanka-based model Deepak Shanmuganathan. The couple was engaged but their marriage was called off.
"Deepak is a very good person, but that there was a vast difference between the lives, hopes, likes, dreams, sensitivities and expectations of the two," she had told Sri Lanka Mirror following the split.
