Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates water ATM in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Monday inaugurated a water ATM (Automated Teller Machine) in New Delhi under the Sarvajal (water for all) scheme to provide potable drinking water at a nominal price. Sarvajal scheme, launched by Delhi Jal (Water) Board (DJB), seeks to provide affordable access to potable water in parched areas through water ATMs. A water ATM is a decentralized water treatment plant that extracts the ground water which then is purified through reverse osmosis system and provided to people. NCP's decision to abstain from voting in Maharashtra, in best interest of democracy: Majid Memon

New Delhi/Mumbai, Oct 27 (ANI): NCP leader Majid Memon on Monday said the party's decision to abstain from voting for majority in Maharashtra is in the best interest of the democracy and would do justice to the system. The chief of NCP, Sharad Pawar in an interview to business paper, Economic Times stated that if there is voting for majority in Maharashtra, NCP will abstain from it. The BJP won 122 of 288 seats in Maharashtra, but fell short of an outright majority. Memon said they would lend external support to the BJP. However, slamming Pawar, a leader of Communist Party of India (CPI), Atul Anjan, said that Pawar just wants to stay in power but does not hold anything in the interest of the nation. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena, a former ally of the BJP in Maharashtra, said on Monday it was ready to support whoever the BJP picked as the next chief minister of the state. Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrives in India for two-day visit

Gaya, Oct 27 (ANI): Vietnam's Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, arrived in India on Monday to enhance ties and regional cooperation and began his two-day visit by landing in Bihar. Dung, who was accompanied by a 50-member delegation, was received by Bihar Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, in Gaya city. During his visit in the state, Dung will pay homage at Mahabodhi temple in holy town of Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. He would also visit the Vietnam Buddhism Pagoda in the town. Both the countries could sign at least a dozen pacts to boost cooperation in sectors like energy, infrastructure, trade and tourism. Dung will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and other leaders. Centre reveals three names from Black Money list in affidavit to SC

New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): The central government on Monday disclosed to the Supreme Court the names of three persons who have allegedly stashed black money abroad. The affidavit which the Centre submitted to the Supreme Court mentioned the names of former Dabur executive Pradip Burman, Rajkot-based bullion trader and jeweller Pankaj Chimanlal Lodhia and Goa miner Radha S Timblo. The list did not feature any politician.Dabur came out with a statement shortly after the Centre filed the affidavit in the Supreme Court. It stated that the account was opened when Pradip Burman was an NRI and was legally allowed to open the account. Oct 27, 2014

Kashmir observes complete shutdown protesting 67 years of Indian troops in state

Srinagar, Oct 27 (ANI): Separatist party in Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference called for a complete shutdown in the state on Monday (October 27) in protest of Indian troops landing on Kashmir soil 67 years ago. The Hurriyat Conference also demanded for complete demilitarisation of the state. All shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in the capital city of Srinagar. Banks, educational institutions and government offices also remained closed. Most of the streets wore a deserted look in Srinagar. New Delhi, Oct 27 (ANI): Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Monday said that the situation in Trilokpuri is under control and investigation is going on in the matter. He added that Section 144 will be there in the area as along as it is needed. He further said that the police have identified the people who were spreading rumors and creating communal tensions and they will be punished as per the law. A communal riot had broken out in East Delhi's Trilokpuri locality after four people were shot during a clash between two communities. Reactions pour in after Centre reveal names of three black money account holders to Supreme Court

New Delhi/ Chennai, Oct 27 (ANI): Reactions poured in after Centre on Monday revealed the names of three bank account holders in the black money case to the Supreme Court. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that it is a historic day and the government has started the process of disclosure of names. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the investigations should start against the three names disclosed by the Centre.
