PM Narendra Modi meets Governor of Victoria Alex Chernov and top CEOs of Australia

Melbourne, Nov 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Governor of Victoria Alex Chernov after he arrived in Melbourne on the fourth and final leg of his four-city tour of Australia. Governor of Victoria Alex Chernov is also hosting the chief executives' roundtable during which Modi would interact with the who's who of the Australian industry and business houses. Market Experts credit PM Modi's Australia visit for Sensex, Nifty hitting record highs

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Nov 18 (ANI): Market Experts on Tuesday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Australia visit as the Sensex and the Nifty hit record highs. The SandP BSE Sensex rallied as much as 105 points in trade on Tuesday to touch its fresh record high of 28282.85, led by gains in RIL, Bharti Airtel, LandT and Sesa Sterlite. Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also surged 24 points to touch its fresh lifetime high of 8454.50, supported by gains in metal, power, capital goods and auto stocks. M arket Expert Akash Jindal said that Modi's Australia visit has been a positive one and that that Modi is bringing along optimism in the nation's economy. BJP on Ramdev's 'Z' category security by govt

New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): The Union Home Ministry has sanctioned Z-category security for yoga guru Ramdev. The yoga guru already has Z-category security provided him to by the Uttarakhand government, but the decision to grant him central security cover was taken after the Intelligence Bureau submitted a report citing a threat to his life outside his home state. Gunfight at godman Rampal's ashram in Hisar, supporters open fire on police

Hisar, Nov 18 (ANI): Self-styled godman Rampal's supporters opened fire on police personnel on Tuesday as they moved ahead to arrest him from his ashram in Hisar. India and China begin joint military training exercise in Pune

Pune, Nov 18 (ANI): India and China began their 'Joint Training Exercise Hand – in – Hand 2014" in Pune. The exercise that aims at focusing on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism tactics comes weeks after a stand-off between their troops along the border in Ladakh region. Lt General Bobby Mathews of Indian Army and Lt general Shi Xiangyuan of the Chinese Army inspected the guard of honour during the exercise. Lt General Bobby Mathews said that both the countries will be greatly benefited from each other. The schedule for 12 days will focus on training on crossing of obstacles, firing of various weapons, handling and neutralisation of improvised explosive devices and conduct of cordon and search operations in insurgent areas. Militants kill two persons, including a border guard, in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 18 (ANI): Militants killed two persons, including a border guard, in Tripura. The incident took place when Border Security Force (BSF) personnel went to fetch water in a civilian water tanker of the Coastal Construction Company to a nearby area. The BSF soldier was accompanied by two other civilians, including the driver of the water tanker. A group of militants ambushed the vehicle. The injured were airlifted to a hospital in Agartala, where the BSF soldier and one civilian were declared brought dead while the condition of another civilian is stated to be serious. Nov 18, 2014
