Reactions come in as Delhi HC slams MCD for running 'Dirty India Campaign'

New Delhi/ Kaushambi, Nov 06 (ANI): Reactions come from political leaders after Delhi High Court slammed Municipal Corporation of Delhi for unhygienic conditions in the national capital and made an observation that it was running a 'Ganda Bharat Abhiyan' or 'Dirty India Campaign'. While BJP said that government is committed to its 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’, Congress and AAP alleged that the ruling BJP is only doing a show off and the MCD under them has failed to perform on the ground. CPI leader D Raja also said that now that the HC has slammed the MCD, it needs to give a report on the same. The court has directed the MCD to file a status report in this regard and posted the matter for next hearing on November 12. Nov 6, 2014

PM Modi debuts in Forbes list of most powerful people, ranked 15th

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been ranked 15th in the Forbes list of world's most powerful people this year. Russian President Vladimir Putin has piped his US counterpart Barack Obama for a second year in a row and is at the top. The list of 72 most powerful people in the world also includes Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 36th position, Arcelor Mittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal at 57th and Microsoft's Indian-born CEO Satya Nadella at 64th position. Conference in Dharamsala stresses on science education for monks

Dharamsala, Nov 6 (ANI): A Buddhist scholar stressed on importance of modern education, primarily science, for monks and nuns along with traditional study, while addressing a conference in hill town of Dharamsala. It was organised by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives under its Science for Monks Program and was flagged off by the education minister in exiled-Tibetan government, Ngodup Tsering. The conference focused on ‘Harmony and Happiness’ and delved into Buddhist concept of connections. It was open to students, monks and people from all walks of life. Devout Hindus take holy dip on Kartik Purnima in Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi/Allahabad/Hapur/Ayodhya, Nov 6 (ANI): Thousands of devotees converged at holy River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh to take a holy dip on the occasion of ‘Kartik Purnima’ on Thursday. Devout Hindus thronged river bank in Allahabad to perform rituals at the confluence of three holy rivers-- Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. In Varanasi also, devotees marked the occasion with religious pageantry. Another devotee, Sushma, said earthen oil lamps are floated in the river and prayers are offered to the almighty. Goa CM declines any talks on cabinet berth with PM Modi

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's official 7, Race Course Residence (RCR) on Wednesday evening amid speculation that he may be given a Cabinet berth at the Centre. Parrikar, however, after the meeting denied having any talks on the cabinet berth with PM Modi. He said that he had discussion over issues concerning his state and as of now he remains the Chief Minister of Goa. Parriker earlier in the day met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah. Jitan Ram Manjhis son-in-law clarifies resignation as PA after controversy arose

Patna, Nov 06 (ANI): The son-in-law of Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Devendra Manjhi gave his resignation as the PA of Chief Minister after it ignited controversy. Devendra Manjhi said that he had been working under the Chief Minister for many years and earlier nobody raised the issue, but now seeking other benefits from the controversy some opposition parties have made it controversial. He also said that the definition of a relative is not clear under law and it does state clearly as to which relatives can and which cannot become Chief Minister’s PA. He further said that he had given his resignation after having discussion with the Bihar Chief Minister. Vyapam Scam: Digvijay to request SC for CBI investigation under SIT

Bangalore, Nov 6 (ANI): After the High Court ordered the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to monitor the Vypam Scam probe, Congress Leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday said that he will request the Supreme Court to order Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry under the SIT. Arun Jaitley says Pak should draw red line if it wants to initiate dialogue

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said that Pakistan should draw a red line whether it wants to initiate dialogue or talk to those who wish to break India. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in New Delhi, Jaitley said Pakistan should make a conscious choice for a meaningful dialogue between the two countries. India had called off Secretary level talks with Pakistan earlier in August, giving a jolt to renewed diplomatic efforts between the two nuclear-armed neighbours and adding to the troubles of Pakistan's beleaguered government. Odisha CM meets Finance Minister for aid post cyclone Hudhud

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi regarding the funds for the damages caused by cyclone Hudhud. Cyclone Hudhud had slammed into the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha last month, killing 41 people and tearing down tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes. Patnaik urged the Central government to release the funds similar to the advance of rupees 10 billion, which has been released to Andhra Pradesh.
