Ranchi, Dec 9 (ANI): Two undertrial prisoners have been killed in police firing on Tuesday when more than 15 undertrails tried to escape from the police van while they were being taken back from court to jail in Jharkhand's Chaibasa. The incident took place around 4pm. Over 15 prisoners including some hardcore Maoists have escaped from the jail. All exit points in the district have been sealed and police have launched a manhunt to nab them. Dec 9, 2014

Christians take out procession to mark Virgin Mary festival in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Dec 09 (ANI): Thousands of devotees gathered for a procession in Visakhapatnam to celebrate Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The festival holds great significance for Catholics. Feast of the Immaculate Conception marks the special way in which Virgin Mary herself was conceived. Catholics believe that Mary was made immune from sin at the moment of her conception. The Feast celebrates Mary's creation by normal biological means, however god acted upon her soul, keeping her immaculate at the time of her conception. Devotees took out a procession and walked to a chapel to celebrate of the festival, which also indicates that the countdown to Christmas has begun. Police and Transport Dept in full swing to ensure licensed and safe cab services in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): Swifting actions on the Delhi rape case, Delhi police and Transport department fastened the proceedings in the matter. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue and said that police is functioning for safety of women and that the cab company in question is already banned by the government. He also said that only authorized taxi service should be allowed to ply on Delhi roads and verification should be got done by the police. Meanwhile, Special Commissioner in Transport Department Kuldeep Singh Ganger said that it was found that the cab was not registered as local cab and was functioning illegally. Reactions flow after govt bans Uber services in Delhi

New Delhi/ Mathura, Dec 09 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday (December 09) summoned chief executive officer (India operations) of Uber cab service to interrogate him about the alleged rape incident and its services in India. The arrested driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav was remanded in custody for three days. He was arrested on charges of raping a woman three years ago but was later acquitted, police said. DCW chief Barkha Shukla said that they will find out how the cab service entered India. BJD leader Jay Panda said no taxi service should be singled out.
