Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal on Tuesday to attend the 18th SAARC Summit. Modi was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the airport. It would be Modi's second meeting with nearly all the SAARC leaders, except for Afghanistan which has a new president Ashraf Ghani. A likely meeting between Modi and Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the summit has lent added interest to the meeting of the eight-member bloc. Nov 25, 2014

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Residents of Nepal are enthusiastic about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country for 18th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit as Modi is scheduled to arrive in capital Kathmandu later in the day on Tuesday. Leaders from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and Pakistan meet in Kathmandu for two days for the plenary session from November 26 for the SAARC summit. The last minute preparations for the summit are in full swing in Nepal as the authorities have heightened the security for the two-day event where leaders from eight nations will meet and discuss the core issues of importance. Modi wave invigorates stock market in Gujarat

Rajkot, Nov 25 (ANI): Riding on the Modi wave, the share market in Gujarat is on a newfound high as Gujaratis trade in new Initial Public Offering (IPOs) and invest more and more in stock markets. Modi's victory unleashed a rush of money from foreign portfolios betting the reformist prime minister would drive a quick recovery. The retail investors in Gujarat have gained confidence once again and are back in business. Pained by the behaviour of Congress: Venkaiah Naidu on black money

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said on Tuesday that he does not need to give an account of what the government is doing in regard with the black money issue because the entire nation is watching it. Naidu added that he is deeply pained by the behaviour of Congress party in Parliament because they have been the main culprits in accumulating black money abroad and now they are raising issues on the floor of the house saying that the government has not been able to fulfill its 100 days’ promise. Suresh Prabhu and Ch. Birender Singh files nomination papers for RS seats

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (ANI): Union Ministers Suresh Prabhu and Ch. Birender Singh filed their nomination papers from Haryana on Tuesday. The two ministers were nominated by BJP for by-elections to two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP MLAs were present when the two filed their nominations before Returning Officer Sumit Kumar, who is also the Secretary of Haryana Assembly. Prabhu said that the two will work for the state along with working at the centre and will take Haryana to new heights. However, Singh said that he is used to the works of a Rajya Sabha MP from his past experience. The Election Commission had earlier notified the by-election to the Council of States from Haryana. Minor explosion outside polling station in J and K

Bandipore, Nov 25 (ANI): A minor explosion took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipore district on Tuesday morning reportedly. Security officials say that it was a very low intensity blast in a rocky terrain of the district, and added that there were no casualties so far. In the wake of the blast, the security drill in the district has been tightened, given that the first phase of assembly elections in the state is currently on. The DIG of North Kashmir, Ghulam Hassan Butt said that there was no need to panic. Meanwhile, about 20 percent voting was reported in the state till a little after 10 a.m. this morning. BJP used black money issue as conspiracy to cash on votes, failed all expectations: Mulayam Singh

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday slammed at the Narendra Modi led NDA government and said that the party used black money issue as a conspiracy to case on votes during the Lok Sabha polls. Yadav said that ruling BJP promised to get black money in 100 days among many other promises but failed on all expectations. He further said that at least the previous government told the amount of the black money but the BJP government failed to disclose even that. Bengaluru MG Road stalking case: Police arrests 6 accused

Bengaluru, Nov 25 (ANI): Bengaluru Police has arrested all six accused in the MG Road women stalking case on Tuesday. Bengaluru Police Commissioner MN Reddi said that the police acted on a tipoff and within 48 hours of registration of complaint by one of the five women, all accused have been arrested. He added that the individuals have confessed their crime and further investigations are going on. On Saturday, the five women, who were returning from an ice cream parlour, were harassed by a group of men on Bengaluru's MG road. As they stopped their car near an ice cream parlour some unidentified men tried to open the doors of their vehicle and left only after the women started making a noise and shouted for help. Nepal gears up to welcome world leaders to SAARC summit

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Nepal's capital Kathmandu is getting ready to host the 18th summit of leaders from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Foreign Secretaries of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are setting the agenda for the summit due to be held on November 26 and 27.The preparations for summit are in full swing in Nepal as the authorities have heightened the security for the two-day event where leaders from eight nations will meet and discuss the core issues of importance. As last stage preparations are being carried out, even artisans are busy giving final touches to earthen pots that will adorn the venue to welcome leaders at the meet. Nepal has two limousines and has rented six bullet-proof cars from India for the visiting leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Nepal on 25th in the afternoon and return late in the evening of 27th November. Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi passes away after prolonged illness

Mumbai, Nov 25 (ANI): Eminent Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi died early Tuesday following prolonged illness. She was 94. Sitara Devi was on ventilator and her condition was serious while she was admitted to the Jaslok Hospital, said her son-in-law. Sitara Devi became a Kathak legend and is known as a pioneering force in bringing the genre to Bollywood. She is the recipient of prestigious awards like Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman. Sitara Devi was born in the family of Brahmin 'kathakar' Sukhdev Maharaj in Kolkata in 1920. When she turned 11, the family moved to Mumbai, where she impressed Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore with a three-hour solo recital. The funeral of eminent Kathak legend will take place Thursday morning. She is survived by a son and a daughter. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled on the loss.
