New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Congress on Monday released a booklet to highlight the poll promises by the BJP and their ‘U turn’ on the same. This came as a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government in first six months of governance. Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said BJP has failed to achieve what it mentioned in its manifesto before coming to power. TMC MPs stage protest against Amit Shah with red diaries at Parliament gate

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs staged a protest outside the Parliament on Monday demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should give a clarification over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah's alleged links with the Sahara Group. Raising slogans, the TMC lawmakers were seen holding a red book with Sahara inscribed on it. TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said that in a CBI raid a red diary was recovered from Sahara's office in which Amit Shah's name was mentioned. BJP leader Jagdambika Pal said that the protest is an outcome of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's frustration. India marks World AIDS Day with rallies and sand art

Ahmedabad/ Allahabad/ Shimla, Dec 01 (ANI): People across India took out rallies and made sand sculptures to spread awareness to mark 26th World AIDS Day on Monday. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is spread via blood, semen and breast milk. There is no cure for the infection, but AIDS can be kept at bay for many years with cocktails of antiretroviral drugs. Scores of people in Ahmedabad city took to streets to spread awareness about the crippling disease. Project Director of the AIDS Control Society, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Umesh said that though there has been decline in new cases of HIV, patients still faced a lot of stigma due to less information. Meanwhile, sand artists in Allahabad city made sculptures on river bank of the Ganges, depicting causes and preventive measures of AIDS. Dec 1, 2014

Haryana Govt to honour two sisters for taking on molesters inside moving bus in Rohtak

Chandigarh, Dec 01 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that his government will honour the two sisters who took on three alleged molesters inside a moving bus in Rohtak. He said the girls will be honoured and would get cash awards on Republic Day for their bravery. He also said that effective steps will be taken to ensure the security of women passengers. The state government has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) and the state transport department to take steps for ensuring safety and security of passengers, especially women travelling in the Haryana Roadways buses. Kolkata, Dec 01 (ANI): Sex workers in Sonagachi, one of Asia's largest red light districts located in Kolkata, pledged not to have sex without condoms to mark the World AIDS Day on Monday. There is no cure for the infection, but AIDS can be kept at bay for many years with antiretroviral drugs. In the global battle against HIV/AIDS, sex workers like those in Sonagachi are a crucial link in a chain of infection. A 19-year-old sex worker who is in this profession because of her truant husband, said that cleanliness is very important to fight HIV/AIDS. The Project Director of HIV Intervention Programme in Sonagachi, Puja Roy, said that free condom service was initiated aiming to make Sonagachi a 'zero AIDS' region. Dec 1, 2014

Arun Jaitley says mergers and acquisitions need encouragement

PMO refuses to share Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose files, politicos react

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday reacted over the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's refusal to make the files on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose public, saying the revelations would "prejudicially affect" relations with foreign countries. The Prime Minister's Office has shared only a list of 41 such files. In the run-up to the general elections, the then BJP president and present Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in January asked the UPA government to reveal the mystery behind Netaji's death. Congress to release booklet on NDA govt's 'U-turn' in Parliament, BJP calls it desperation

New Delhi, Dec 01 (ANI): Congress on Monday is all set to release a booklet in the winter session of the Parliament on the U-turns taken by the NDA government since it came to power. The booklet will narrate the promises made by the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections and inaction by the Modi government over the same issues. Party leaders Manish Tewari said that the present government has failed in all perspectives and that needed to be brought up. Meanwhile, Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Congress has no work and this is the result of their idleness. Naidu said that it is their democratic right and there is no harm in releasing any such booklet. The 33-page booklet would highlight over two dozen 'U-turns' by the NDA government and issues like cash subsidy and different bills like FDI in insurance and GST among others, which were UPA proposals, would be included.
