DCW questions Uber authorities, demands how services became operative without govt's consent

New Delhi, Dec 09 (ANI): Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday summoned Uber cab services authorities for questioning them. The General Manager Gagan Bhatia said that he is extremely sorry for such an incident. DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla said that Uber authorities were questioned on various aspects like the basis on which they hire a driver for cab. She said that the authorities answered that the rape accused driver was completely eligible as per the requirements of Uber. Ranchi, Dec 9 (ANI): Two undertrial prisoners have been killed in police firing on Tuesday when more than 15 undertrails tried to escape from the police van while they were being taken back from court to jail in Jharkhand's Chaibasa. The incident took place around 4pm. Over 15 prisoners including some hardcore Maoists have escaped from the jail. Visakhapatnam, Dec 09 (ANI): Thousands of devotees gathered for a procession in Visakhapatnam to celebrate Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The festival holds great significance for Catholics. Feast of the Immaculate Conception marks the special way in which Virgin Mary herself was conceived. Catholics believe that Mary was made immune from sin at the moment of her conception. The Feast celebrates Mary's creation by normal biological means, however god acted upon her soul, keeping her immaculate at the time of her conception. Devotees took out a procession and walked to a chapel to celebrate of the festival, which also indicates that the countdown to Christmas has begun.
