Health department prepared to handle swine flu cases: JP NAdda

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Health Minister JP Nadda said on Saturday there was no need to panic after the death of a woman due to swine flu in New Delhi. Nadda said the hospitals were equipped to handle swine flu cases.The 51-year-old woman, who hailed from Ghaziabad city in Uttar Pradesh, was admitted to a local hospital after she complained of fever and cold. She was later tested positive for swine flu. Swine flu is caused by the H1N1 virus. H1N1 symptoms are similar to those produced by other influenza viruses - fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and respiratory problems.According to the Directorate of Health Services, six cases of swine flu have been reported in the national capital and its neighbouring region till now this month. West Bengal, Dec 27 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday visited Balapara and Changmari relief camps in the state and distributed warm clothes to Adivasis from violence hit Kokrajhar who have sought shelter there. Banerjee talked to the people and took stock of the facilities being provided to the dwellers. According to party sources, a total of 750 people are living in both camps and about 200 of them are children. Tribal groups call for Bandh in West Bengal

Birpara, Dec 27 (ANI): Several tribal groups on Saturday have called for shutdown in Birpara area of Alipurduar district of West Bengal following the attacks by the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) which killed over 80 people. Grenade blast in Imphal injures at least four

Imphal, Dec 27 (ANI): At least four people were injured in a grenade blast on Friday in Imphal, Manipur. The blast took place at around 5.30 pm when an unidentified person hurled a grenade in front of an office 'Angels Digital Media Service'. The injured, who were inside the shop at the time of blast, sustained minor injuries. Security personnel rushed at the site and investigation is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. On December 21, three people were killed and four sustained injuries in a bomb explosion in Imphal. New Delhi records first swine flu death

Ghaziabad /New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Indian capital New Delhi recorded its first swine flu death. The deceased identified as Sheel Goel, resident of East Model Town in Ghaziabad was admitted to the ICU of Ganga Ram Hospital in a serious condition on December 21. She was tested positive for swine flu. She was earlier being treated in a local hospital in Ghaziabad. The authorities claimed that the victim had come from South Africa few days before her death.
