New Delhi, Nov 15 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday while addressing a public meeting in Jantar Mantar said that Aam Aadmi Party's foundation day i.e. 26th November will be celebrated as 'Women Safety day'. Modi to unveil Mahatma Gandhi statue in Brisbane

Brisbane, Nov 15 (ANI): Former honorary Indian consul in Brisbane, Parsram Punj said he is honoured to be participating in unveiling of a Mahatma Gandhi statue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city. Modi who is in Brisbane for the ninth G20 Summit is expected to unveil a statue of the Mahatma Gandhi in Brisbane's Roma Street Parkland. Punj said Modi had expressed his desire to commemorate Gandhi in the city during his visit to the honorary consul in 2001. Meerut, Nov 15 (ANI): The Students Union election of a college in Meerut took a violent turn as rival groups clashed, raised provocative slogans and opened fire to the consternation of the city administration. NCW Chairperson's remark on Bengaluru jail case draws flak

New Delhi, Nov 15 (ANI): NCW Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam on Saturday refused to comment on reports that women inmates of a Karnataka prison were being pushed into forced sex and said that any action in the issue will be taken on Monday as her office is closed on Saturday and Sunday. AIDWA member Saba Farooqui said it is shameful that decision over rape case will be taken on working day. Social Activist Abha Singh said that the incident is a very serious offence and NCW should have taken immediate action. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley visits Golden Temple in Amritsar

Amritsar, Nov 15 (ANI): Governor of US state of South Carolina, Nikki Haley who grew up as a Sikh, paid an emotional visit to holy Sikh shrine Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday. The holiest of Sikh shrines, Harmandar Sahib, popularly known as Golden Temple, is visited by devotees across India and the world. Haley was born as Nimrata Nikki Randhawa and was two-year-old when she last visited India. The daughter of immigrants from India, she was the first woman elected governor of South Carolina. Farmers protest against unchanged prices of sugarcane in UP

Lucknow, Nov 15 (ANI): Farmers in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday burnt sugarcanes as they protested against the state government for keeping sugarcane state advised price (SAP) unchanged for third year in a row. The price decided by the government for the 2014-15 crushing season for the common variety of cane is at rupees 280 a quintal, for the early variety, rupees 290 a quintal and for rejected variety, rupees 275. The farmers said the government has further slashed the prices of sugarcanes, whereas they have been demanding price to be hiked to rupees 320-350 while the millers demanded the rollback of SAP to rupees 225 ($ 3.63) a quintal. Last year in December also farmers had staged protest on the same issue by blocking key routes, including the national highway and also brought several buses and a train to halt. Nov 15, 2014

Media Persons waiting for Kunal Ghosh Lathicharged at Kolkata Hospital

Kolkata, Nov 15 (ANI): Police lathicharged and manhandled media persons outside the SSKM hospital in Kolkata on Saturday while making way for Saradha scam accused Kunal Ghosh who was being taken to Bangur Institute of Neurology for medical tests, a day after he allegedly attempted to commit suicide inside the jail. Ghosh, had taken dozens of sleeping pills yesterday morning. In the last hearing when he was produced by the CBI in the court, Ghosh had threatened that he would be forced to commit suicide if the persons whom he had named in the Saradha scam case were not arrested by CBI. Ghosh was first arrested by West Bengal Police and later shifted to CBI custody after the central agency took charge of the probe. Nov 15, 2014
