Mayawati demands CBI investigation over dead bodies in Ganges

Lucknow, Jan 15 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday demanded a CBI investigation over the incident of dead bodies being found in the River Ganges in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. She further stated that the Samajwadi Party had failed to maintain the law and order situation in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo also launched her book 'A Travelogue of My Struggle-ridden Life and BSP Movement' to mark her 55th Birthday. Over a hundred bodies were recovered from the river Ganges in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district, earlier on Wednesday. Australian PM Tony Abbott applauds cover page of Charlie Hebdo's latest edition

Canberra, Jan 15 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott spoke to Australian radio station from his office in Parliament House in Canberra commenting on the cover of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo. He welcomed the cover page of the weekly satirical magazine and said that the cartoon saying 'all is forgiven' gave out a positive message. It is the first edition of Charlie Hebdo to be published after the deadly attacks by Islamist gunmen and sold out within minutes at newspaper kiosks around France on Wednesday, with people queuing up to buy copies to support the satirical weekly. Finance Minister Jaitley holds pre-budget meet with IT sector representatives

Varanasi students prepare a kilometre-long complaint letter for PM Modi

Varanasi, Jan 15 (ANI): A group of students have initiated a campaign to prepare a kilometre-long letter for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, listing the grievances of the people from holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. This letter aims to brief Modi about the problems faced by the people of his constituency and also offer solutions to some of the problems raised. So far the letter is 350 to 400 metres long and almost 900 complaints have been mentioned in it by the residents of Varanasi. An organiser, Kushant Srivastav said that the students are visiting various places in the city to get people to pen down their issues.
