Uma Bharti seeks report on unidentified bodies in River Ganges

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Wednesday said the ministry will probe the matter of unidentified bodies found around a bank of the River Ganges. Nearly 50 bodies were found in revered River Ganges in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Dogs, crows and vultures dug into bodies as they had reached the bank due to low water level, posing major environment challenges in the areas under Unnao district. Naqvi taken into custody for breaching prohibitory orders during 2009 LS polls, gets bail

Rampur, Jan 14 (ANI): Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was taken into judicial custody in Rampur on Wednesday for alleged poll code violation. Naqvi's arrest took place after a local court in Rampur sentenced him to one year in jail for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2009 general elections. However, Naqvi was later released on bail. An FIR had been registered against Naqvi and his supporters during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections in Rampur. Naqvi had allegedly breached the prohibitory orders in force and barged into a police station along with his party workers at Patwai area of Rampur parliamentary constituency while campaigning for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
