Cartoonist RK Laxman dies at 94

New Delhi, Jan 26 (ANI): RK Laxman, the country's best-known cartoonist, passed away at 94 on Monday evening, at the Dinanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune, where he was on life support for the past few days. Born in 1921 in Mysore, Laxman had no formal training in cartooning but the work he put out over decades was sheer genius. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the sad demise of Laxman. Republic Day: Beating retreat ceremony takes place at Wagah border

Amritsar, Jan 26 (ANI): A beating retreat ceremony was held at Wagah Border in Amritsar on Monday evening as the country marks 66th Republic Day. The BSF jawans and Pakistan Rangers shook hands during the ceremony. The forces from both sides performed the 'show of strength' ceremony expressing their power. After that the common practice of lowering the national flags of both countries was held. The Beating Retreat ceremony is a daily military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed since 1959.
