Govt mulls action against those responsible for misusing intelligence unit

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Information and broadcasting ministers Manish Tewari said on Friday that the government would initiate action against those found guilty of misusing the intelligence unit after reports emerged in the national English daily that former chief of the Army General (Retd) Vijay Kumar Singh allegedly tried to topple government of Jammu and Kashmir. Tewari, termed the allegations serious since they concerned the national security of the country. Mulayam DA case: CBI closes corruption probe citing lack of evidence

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): In a major relief to Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, the CBI on Friday closed its investigation into a corruption case against him citing lack of evidence. This comes two months after a CBI officer recommended closing the six-year-old investigation into whether the SP chief and his son, Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, had accumulated wealth beyond their known sources of income. The agency says it had investigated all the assets and properties mentioned by petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi, who had petitioned the Supreme Court for a probe in 2007. Sep 20, 2013

BJP on allegations against former Army Chief VK Singh

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): BJP National Spokesperson, Captain Abhimanyu on Friday said that it was unfortunate to see allegations against former Army Chief VK Singh. Further, pointing fingers at the UPA government, he said that the UPA government has tried to destroy the fabric of security. Media reports have claimed that General VK Singh had set up a special unit in the army which tried to topple the Jammu and Kashmir Government. The report also claimed that a secret Board of Officers inquiry has recommended that the CBI look into the matter. Media report also claimed that the unit set up by General V K Singh called the Technical Services Division (TSD), a part of Military Intelligence, tried to block General Bikram Singh's promotion. Maoists kill one policeman of patrolling party in Bihar

Rasheed Masood found guilty in MBBS seat allocation case

New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): A Special CBI court has held Rajya Sabha member Rasheed Masood guilty in a case of corruption and other offences. Masood, Minister of Health in the VP Singh government between 1990 and 1991, was held guilty of fraudulently nominating undeserving candidates to MBBS seats allotted to Tripura in medical colleges across the country from the central pool. Masood's conviction is the first case after the July 10 Supreme Court judgment that struck down sub-section 4 of Section 8 of Representation of the People, RP Act, under which incumbent MPs and MLAs can avoid disqualification till pendency of the appeal against conviction in a higher court. Chennai doctor becomes first in country to use Google Glass to air operation live

Chennai, Sept 20 (ANI): A doctor in Chennai became the first Indian to perform a surgery wearing the Google glass as he live streamed an upper gastro-intestinal laparoscopy procedure on a 45-year-old man to medical students seated two blocks away. Google Glass has a frame similar to the traditional spectacles but is actually a wearable computer that follows voice commands. It can take photos and videos to show the viewpoint of the user. Chief surgeon JS Rajkumar, who wore the latest gadget in the operation theatre, performed a medical procedure to repair the patient___s simple hernia with his team of doctors on September 17.
