Calling himself an anarchist, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday staged a dramatic sit-in with his cabinet ministers and around 1,000 vocal supporters in the heart of the city seeking action against five police officers his government holds guilty.

Bangladeshi Hindus under attack as BNP-Jamaat cadre unleash violence

New Delhi/ Kolkata, Jan 20 (ANI): The violence let loose against the Hindus this time, before and after the January 5 elections has been worst in recent times. Areas of Jessore, Dinajpur and Satkhira, Gaibandha, Rajshahi and Chittagong have been particularly affected. There are violent attacks on villages, business establishments and places of worship of Hindus. Young men are now sitting on night vigils, trying to protect the women and children. There have even been reports of women being raped. Many Hindus say that the atrocities are reminding them of what their community faced in 1971 at the hands of Pakistani army and the local collaborators.

Bone chilling cold disrupts normal life in northern India

Kanpur/ Jammu, Jan 20 (ANI): Spell of intense cold wave continued to sweep large parts of northern India, paralysing normal life and disrupting rail traffic on Monday. People were seen sitting around bonfires on pavements to beat the cold. Dense fog engulfed many parts of the region, causing trouble for the daily commuters due to poor visibility and dozens of trains running behind schedule or cancelled. Biting cold wave forced people to stay indoors within the warmer confines of their houses, while office-goers and schoolchildren had to struggle to reach their destinations.
