Dussehra: Ansari, Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi witness burning of Ravan effigies in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday visited the Subhash Park in New Delhi where the effigy of the evil king Ravana, Meghnad and Kubhakaran burned at about 06:15 PM to mark the celebration of Hindu festival Dussehra. The dignitaries then visited the Ramlila Maidan like every year to witness the ritual. The other high dignitaries present at the site were Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dekshit and Law Minister Kapil Sibal along with Priyanka Gandhi. The VIPS were escorted to a flower bedecked stage by the organisers of the event soon after their arrival at the ground. The atmosphere in the ground was one of traditional gaiety, fun and frolic. Police cracks down BSP MLA Haji Aleem Choudhary's wife's murder case

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Additional Commissioner of Police VV Chaudhary on Sunday confirmed that the Delhi police cracked down the murder case of BSP MLA Haji Aleem Choudhary's wife. He reveled that the police have suspected the involvement of MLA's first wife's business partner, his two sons and driver in the case. The driver and business partner have been arrested and the two sons are still absconding. Rehana Choudhary was found brutally murdered in her house at New Jaffrabad in North-East Delhi on 9th October. Cyclone Phailin: Nearly 9 lakh people evacuated from Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 13 (ANI): Even as powerful Cyclone Phailin has hammered Orissa overnight, bringing down power lines, ripping up trees and sending seawater surging inland, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra said that nearly nine lakh people have been evacuated in coastal Odisha. Cyclone Phailin: Worst is over says IMD - Part - 1

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): LS Rathore, DG of IMD on Sunday said that the worst of cyclone Phailin is completely over for Andhra Pradesh but Odisha is still likely to get affected by ‘severe cyclone’ today. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, he said that the ‘severe cyclonic storm’ is currently situated 50 km south of Sambalpur and is moving in a north to north-west direction and the next 12 hours are crucial in terms of wind and wind speeds. He added that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Odisha. Thereafter the cyclone will become a deep depression and cause rainfall over Chhattisgarh and gangetic West Bengal in another 24 hours.
