New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party's Kumar Vishwas' racist quip on nurses from Kerala has landed him in fresh controversy, even as his party battles allegations of racism and sexism. Vishwas, in a YouTube clip is seen lampooning the ubiquitous Malayalee nurse as a "kaali peeli" sister. The AAP leader, who is set to challenge Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, is now at the receiving end in Kerala as progressive organizations in the state called his remarks "racially offensive" and launched a protest against him demanding his apology. SC commutes death sentence of 15 convicts to life imprisonment

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday commuted the sentences of 15 death convicts to life imprisonment, due to delays in their execution. The death penalty of 13 condemned prisoners has been commuted to life because of delay on part of President to decide their mercy pleas. The other two were given life sentence after it was revealed that the imprisonment while awaiting their sentence, had turned them mentally ill, according to media reports. The Supreme Court further said a minimum of 14-day gap is required between the information given to condemned prisoner about rejection of mercy plea, and the actual execution date.
