US ship detention: All 35 crew members arrested

Tuticorin, Oct 18 (ANI): All 35 crew members of US-based ship, identified as MV Seaman Guard Ohio, carrying weapons without permit have been arrested by Tamil Nadu police. The ship was was intercepted and detained by the Indian Coast Guard about 15 nautical miles east of Tuticorin on Saturday. The Q branch was probing into the case. Sankalp yatra: Security beefed up in Ayodhya, ban on SMS

Lucknow/ Ayodhya, Oct 18 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh government has beefed up security in railway stations and has put a ban on SMS in Ayodhya to clamp down on Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) 'Sankalp Sabha' scheduled for Friday, according to an official. Officials said strict vigil was being kept on movement of people to Ayodhya and all borders to Faizabad were sealed on Thursday. India seeks Hungary's support for seat in Nuclear Suppliers Group

New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sought his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban's support for New Delhi's full membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group. The United States, Britain, France are among countries pushing for allowing India - a growing market for such commerce - to join the 48-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), a move that would boost the Asian nation's status as an atomic power. But many countries worry about the implications for wider efforts to prevent the spread of atomic bombs if India were to enter the group, keeping in view that it has refused to sign global anti-nuclear weapons pact. Unnao: ASI begins excavation for gold hunt

Unnao, Oct 18 (ANI): The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Friday began excavating the remains of former King Ram Bux Singh's dilapidated fort in Unnao district of UP to verify claims made by a seer that nearly 1,000 tonnes of gold is buried here. The work by ASI began days after local seer Shobhan Sarkar dreamt of the invaluable gold treasure hidden in those ruins. The residents of the area seemed confident of hidden treasure in the premises of fort as they stressed that whatever Sarkar has predicted till date is found to be true. Maoist kills three policemen in Gadchiroli

Gadchiroli, Oct 18 (ANI): At least three security personnel were killed in a landmine blast following a gun battle with Maoists in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. The Maoist attack took place on Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border on Thursday. The Maoists planted a landmine and triggered a blast which was followed by an exchange of fire between the special action group and Maoists. Speaking to the mediapersons, the Superintendent of Police, Suvez Haque said that the police personnel bravely fought the Maoists. Bihar: Seven killed in Maoist landmine blast

Aurangabad/Patna, Oct 18 (ANI): At least seven people were killed when Maoists blew up a vehicle by triggering a landmine blast in the rebel-infested Aurangabad district of Bihar.
