Jan Lokpal Bill can't be tabled in Delhi Assembly: LG Najeeb Jung

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Delhi Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung has written a letter to Delhi Assembly Speaker MS Dhir saying the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill cannot be tabled in the House as it has not been approved by him. Shutdown in Andhra Pradesh continues over Telangana row

Guntur, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Feb 14 (ANI): Supporters of YSR Congress party and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) called for shutdown for second consecutive day in various districts of Andhra Pradesh on Friday against the creation of a new state. Members of YSR Congress party burnt tyres and staged a protest shouting slogans on the streets of Guntur district against the central government over its decision of creation of a separate state, Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. Effect of shutdown was also seen in capital city Hyderabad, where businesses remained shut and also in the port city of Visakhapatnam where no public transport was visible and people were seen waiting at the bus stops.

India, Pakistan end cross-border trade crisis

Govt set to raise Rs 61,162 cr from spectrum auction

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): India is set to raise about Rs 61,162 crore from the auction of telecommunication spectrum, said Telecoms secretary M F Farooqui, far exceeding the government's target as it tries to narrow its budget deficit. Eight companies, including Bharti Airtel Ltd, Vodafone Group Plc's India unit and Reliance Industries Ltd, had applied to bid in the auction of 900 megahertz and 1800 megahertz band airwaves.
