Sachin Tendulkar bats for hygiene among children

Ratnagiri, Mar 6 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar who is the UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) ambassador for South Asia visited a specially abled children school (visually impaired) in Maharashtra to teach them the importance of hygiene and sanitation. As UNICEF Ambassador for South Asia, Tendulkar would be touring the region for the next two years to promote the significance of hygiene and sanitation among the slum dwellers and poor.

Bangladesh war veteran pins hope on government over war crimes trials

Dhaka, Mar 6 (ANI): Bangladesh war veteran, Mahboob Zaman, said that present government was committed and would move forward the process of the trial of war criminals, accused of genocide during 1971 liberation struggle. Non-performing assets biggest challenge for public sector banks: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Mar 6 (ANI): Reviewing performance of public sector banks, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said "biggest challenge faced by PSU banks is non-performing assets and their asset qualities". Chidambaram said that credit disbursal to medium- sized industry has declined and was only "satisfactory" in the agricultural sector. Chidambaram also said that a large part of the meeting with banks' chiefs was focused on bad loans and the steps needed for the recovery.

Salman Khurshid hopes for fair and clean upcoming national polls

Farrukhabad, Mar 6 (ANI): Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid hoped for clear and fair upcoming 2014 polls, stressing on complete transparency and following the moral code conduct. Khurshid said that the moral code of conduct and guidelines issued by the Election Comission of India must be implemented in a fair manner and if any unlawful activity was observed it should be immediately brought under the notice of the authorities.
