Telangana row: TRS requests for President's rule

Hyderabad, Oct 10 (ANI): TRS leader KT Rama Rao slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and said that he has been working against the formation of separate Telangana. The TRS has also called for President’s rule in the state. TRS also urged Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan to dismiss Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister from his post. TRS floor leader in the Legislative Assembly E Rajender alleged that Reddy is biased against Telangana and was trying to stall the formation of the separate state. The TRS leaders claimed that Reddy's handling of the strike and agitation by pro-united Andhra employees in support of united Andhra goes on to prove his alleged bias. Oct 10, 2013

President Mukherjee paves way for Narendra Modis rally in Bihar

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee agreed to change the dates of his visit to Patna as it was to clash with a rally by the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after BJP leaders Shahnawaz Hussain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy visited him for a courtesy call. Hussain confirmed that the President will return back to Delhi on the 26th itself and has canceled his plan to stay for the night. He further said that this was done so that the President doesn’t face any inconvenience due to this rally. Hussain also said that this will be an opportunity for the people of Bihar to witness the President on one day and the future Prime Minister on the other. Oct 10, 2013

Muzaffarnagar riots: Allahabad HC notice to Azam Khan

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for allegedly pressing for the release of seven members from the Muslim community named in the murder of two Jats, which triggered the communal backlash in Mazaffarnagar last month claiming at least 48 lives. The court asked Azam Khan to file his counter affidavit within ten days from the receipt of notice. According to reports, the Allahabad High Court also stayed the suspension of an SHO of a police station in Muzaffarnagar where these seven accused were held by the police. The court noted that the allegations leveled against Khan were "serious" and "the chain of incidents show that the matter requires consideration to see the circumstances and to find out whether the same was "in accordance with law" and not "vitiated". Yashwant Sinha takes on "Bhonpu' Tewari, says 'corruption has spoiled Indian story'

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav rejected the allegations of the BJP that the Bihar government headed by Nitish Kumar had engineered the President Pranab Mukherjee’s schedule to ensure that it clashes with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's Patna rally on October 27. College Principal hacked to death by engineering students

Tuticorin, Oct 10 (ANI): In a shocking incident, students of Infant Jesus Engineering College in Tuticorin city of Tamil Nadu hacked their Principal to death due to disciplinary action on them. The students were ordered to vacate the hostel on grounds of indiscipline. The three students were singled out by the Principal and repeatedly faced suspension and other disciplinary measures. According to the management, these students were indulged in ragging the juniors in the hostel. Police said the Principal, Dr LRD Suresh (55), of the college died on the way to hospital, following which the three students were arrested. Oct 10, 2013

Delhi HC tells BAI to allow Jwala Gutta to play tournaments

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Delhi high court on Thursday asked the Badminton Association of India (BAI) to allow shuttler Jwala Gutta to participate in all tournaments till the disciplinary committee passes its final order. However, despite the intervention by HC, Jwala may still not be able to take part in the Denmark Open as her name has already been withdrawn from the tournament. A BAI committee had recommended a life-ban on the feisty veteran for allegedly trying to stop her Delhi Smashers teammates from playing a match against Banga Beats in the recent Indian Badminton League. Manish Tewari pulls up Punjab CM for complaining to PM

Sangrur, Oct 10 (ANI): With an upset Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal complaining to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for not being invited to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's event, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Thursday said he is surprised at the former's angst, and added that people who possibly have a right to complain are the MPs and the ministers of Punjab who are treated as complete outsiders by the state government. Tewari also used the occasion to highlight the economic condition of Punjab, presently ruled by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance government. Badal had shot off an angry letter to the Prime Minister, saying that he had not been invited to the event where a major cancer hospital is to be inaugurated in Punjab and to be attended by Rahul Gandhi.
