Coast guard rescues 18 sailors left stranded after Cyclone Phailin

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14 (ANI): The Indian coast guard rescued 18 sailors, who were left stranded after their merchant vessel went missing in the super-cyclone ‘Phailin’. A Panama-registered cargo ship carrying iron ore was reported to have sunk in rough seas off the coast of West Bengal, but the crew was rescued later by a Coast Guard aircraft. Speaking to a journalist in Bhubaneswar city, a Group Captain in the Indian Air Force (IAF), Basant. B. Dhaka, Oct 14 (ANI): Created in 1941 by Maulana Maududi, the Jamaat-e-Islami has a history of committing violence and promoting fundamentalism. The Jamaat, which stood against the independence of Bangladesh, collaborated with the Pakistani Army in its operations against Bengali nationalists, intellectuals and minority Hindus. After 42 years of independence, Bangladesh is still faced with acts of religious fundamentalism primarily perpetrated by the Jamaat-e-Islami. Although the Jammat has been deemed unconstitutional and banned from contesting general elections in 2014, it continues to mark its influence through violent means.
