Free handicraft training provided to school drop outs in Jorhat

Jorhat, Nov 06 (ANI): These youngsters from different parts of Assam are all school dropouts, and are a part of a bamboo handicraft workshop recently held in Jorhat.The week-long training programme was organised by the Institution for Culture and Rural Development (I-CARD) at the Rain Forest Research Institute in Sootea. In total 20 people, belonging to extremely poor families participated in the skill development workshop, where they were taught to make different bamboo products. I-CARD has been consistently taking initiatives to impart vocational training to unemployed youths in the region. The Institute works with the Rights Foundation under the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). The institute also plans to create a data base of unemployed youths and jobs available in various sectors. Nov 6, 2013

Festival organized in Tripura to promote and preserve tribal culture

A total of 19 tribes, some of which are on the verge of extinction, came together at the Nazrul Kalakshetra auditorium in Agartala for a tribal cultural heritage meet. The two-day long event, organized by ONGC Tripura, aimed at promoting tribal culture of the state. The audience was enthralled by traditional dances of tribes like Reang, Chakma, Jamatia, Kaloi, Lusai and Uchoi. Models dressed in traditional attires of their respective tribes walked the ramp. US reiterates 'no change' in visa policy if Narendra Modi chose to reapply

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The US has reiterated its stand on its visa policy and said that BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi can reapply if he wants and wait for a review. US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf said that there has been no change in the visa policy and Modi is welcome to apply for the procedure and wait for any other applicant. According to reports, the Gujarat Chief Minister, was denied a diplomatic visa in 2005 and his existing tourist and business visa was revoked under the Immigration and Nationality Act that makes a foreign government official responsible for severe violations of religious freedom ineligible for a travel document. Chhattisgarh Assembly polls: BJP releases manifesto

Raipur, Nov 06 (ANI): Ahead of Assembly election in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday released BJP’s election manifesto in Raipur. Singh attempted to lure the voters especially the youth by announcing freebies for the college entrants. Singh also announced food grains at cheap rates for large number of families. Singh also highlighted that schemes would be implemented to improve the state infrastructure. The first phase of polls in Chhattisgarh will be held on November 11 for which the notification will be issued on October 18. The last date of filing nominations will be October 25 and the last date of withdrawal will be October 28. Nigerian envoy assures to resolve death of his countryman in Goa

New Delhi/Panaji, Nov 6 (ANI): Nigerian ambassador to India, Ndubuisi Vitus Amaku has assures that death of his country’s national in Goa is being handled and the matter will be soon resolved. The Nigerian was found dead with stab wounds in Goa's Mapusa town. The incident triggered protests by Nigerians in Goa where they blocked roads and allegedly attacked the police vehicle carrying the dead body of their fellow national with sticks on October 31.
